     Hon. Anne St. John was born on 31 January 1739.2 She was the daughter of John St. John, 11th Baron Saint John of Bletso and Elizabeth Crowley.3 She married Robert Cotton Trefusis, son of Robert Trefusis and Elizabeth Affleck.1 She died in March 1776 at age 37.2
     Her married name became Trefusis.1

     Robert George William Trefusis, 17th Lord Clinton was born on 5 October 1764.1 He was the son of Robert Cotton Trefusis and Hon. Anne St. John.2 He was baptised on 3 November 1764 at St. James' Church, Westminster, London, EnglandG.3 He married Albertina Marianna Gaulis, daughter of John Abraham Rodolph Gaulis, on 28 April 1786 at Lausanne, SwitzerlandG.3 He died on 28 August 1797 at age 32 at Bolton Row, Piccadilly, London, EnglandG.3 He was buried on 15 September 1797 at Trefusis, Cornwall, EnglandG.3,4 His will was proven (by probate) in October 1797.3
     He succeeded as the 17th Lord Clinton [E., 1299] on 27 February 1794.1

     Bridget Boscawen was baptised on 23 September 1666 at St. Michael Penkivel, Cornwall, England.2 She was the daughter of Hugh Boscawen and Margaret Clinton.3 A settlement for the marriage between her and Hugh Fortescue was made on 19 October 1692.3,2 She died in 1708.1
     From 1692, her married name became Fortescue.1

     Hugh Fortescue, 1st and last Earl Clinton was born on 12 June 1695.2 He was baptised on 28 June 1695 at St. Michael Penkevil, Cornwall, England.1,2 He was the son of Hugh Fortescue and Bridget Boscawen.3 He died on 2 May 1751 at age 55, unmarried.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 17 May 1751.4
     He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Devon between 1721 and 1723.1 He succeeded as the 14th Lord Clinton [E., 1299] on 15 March 1720/21.1 He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber to the Prince of Wales between 1725 and 1733.4 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 27 May 1725.4 He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, on 25 April 1728 with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)4 He was created 1st Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill, co. Devon [Great Britain] on 5 July 1746, with a special remainder to his half-brother.1 He was created 1st Earl Clinton [Great Britain] on 5 July 1746.1 His last will was dated from 6 April 1747 to 27 April 1751.
     On his death, his earldom became extinct, the Barony of Fortescue passed to his half brother and the Barony of Clinton fell once more into abeyance.1
