     James McNeill Whistler was born on 11 July 1834 at Lowell, Massachusetts, U.S.A..1 He was the son of George Washington Whistler and Anna Matilda MacNeill.1 He died on 17 July 1903 at age 69 at Chelsea, London, England.1 He was buried at St. Nicholas' Church, Chiswick, London, England.1
     He was a painter.1 He wrote the book Ten O'Clock Lecture, published 1885.1 He wrote the book The Gentle Art of Making Enemies, published 1890.1 He was decorated with the award of the Legion d'Honneur in 1892.1
