     Richard George Herbert Butcher was born on 21 April 1816.1 He was the son of Vice-Admiral Samuel Butcher and Elizabeth Anne Herbert.1 He married Julia Carmichael, daughter of E. Carmichael, on 7 July 1840.1 He died in 1891.1
     He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He was registered as a Member, Royal Irish Academy (M.R.I.A.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.)1 He held the office of President of the Royal College of Surgeons (Ireland).1 He lived at Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1

     Maj.-Gen. Arthur Butcher was born on 10 March 1822.1 He was the son of Vice-Admiral Samuel Butcher and Elizabeth Anne Herbert.1 He married Jane Cox, daughter of Colonel Charles Cox, on 14 June 1845.1 He died on 7 July 1883 at age 61.1
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Marines Light Infantry.1
