     Major Edward James Lugard was born on 23 March 1865.1 He was the son of Reverend Frederick Grueber Lugard and Mary Jane Howard.1 He married Charlotte Eleanor Howard, daughter of Reverend G. B. Howard, on 4 July 1893.1
     Major Edward James Lugard was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Indian Army.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.).1

     Rt. Hon. General Sir Edward Lugard was born on 8 May 1810.1 He was the son of Captain John Lugard and Jane Llewellyn Trewman.1 He married, secondly, Matty Fulbrow, daughter of J. Fulbrow.1 He married, firstly, Isabella Mowbray Hart, daughter of Henry Hart, in 1837.1 He died on 31 October 1898 at age 88.1
     Rt. Hon. General Sir Edward Lugard gained the rank of officer in the service of the 31st Foot.1 He fought in the Afghan War in 1842.1 He fought in the Sikh Wars between 1845 and 1846.1 He fought in the Sikh Wars between 1848 and 1849.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny, in command a division at the capture of Lucknow.1 He fought in the Persian Campaign in 1857.1 He held the office of Under-Secretary of State for War between 1861 and 1871.1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.).1 He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.).1
