     Rt. Hon. Sir William Medows was born on 31 January 1739.1 He was the son of Philip Medows and Lady Frances Pierrepont.1 He married Frances Augusta Hammerton, daughter of Robert Hammerton, in 1770.1 He died in 1813, without issue.1
     Rt. Hon. Sir William Medows held the office of Governor-General of Madras.1 He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.).1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland].1
