     Mary Elizabeth Smiley was the daughter of Thomas Smiley.2 She married Sir Robert John McConnell, 1st Bt., son of Joseph McConnell and Elizabeth McBride, on 26 January 1874.1 She died on 5 April 1896.1
     From 26 January 1874, her married name became McConnell.

     Sir Joseph McConnell, 2nd Bt. was born on 17 September 1877.1 He was the son of Sir Robert John McConnell, 1st Bt. and Mary Elizabeth Smiley.2 He married Lisa McGowan, daughter of Jackson McGowan, on 25 April 1900.1 He died on 27 August 1942 at age 64.3
     Sir Joseph McConnell, 2nd Bt. succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet McConnell, of the Moat, Strandtown, Belfast [U.K., 1900] on 22 April 1927.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Antrim between 1929 and 1942.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Belfast.1

     Alfred Edward McConnell was born on 10 November 1880.1 He was the son of Sir Robert John McConnell, 1st Bt. and Mary Elizabeth Smiley.2 He married, firstly, Emma Yvonne Dougal on 12 June 1919.1 He died in January 1963 at age 82.3
     Alfred Edward McConnell was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, Jesus College Cambridge.1
