     Brigadier Sir Frederick Gregory Lindsay Coates, 2nd Bt. was born on 19 May 1916.¹ He was the son of Sir William Frederick Coates, 1st Bt. and Elsie Millicent Gregory.² He married Joan Nugent Spinks, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Charlton Watson Spinks and Marguerite Coleman, on 20 September 1940.¹ He died on 24 June 1994 at age 78.^1,3
     Brigadier Sir Frederick Gregory Lindsay Coates, 2nd Bt. was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Coates, of Haypark, in the City of Belfast [U.K., 1921] on 19 January 1932.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.¹ He fought in the Second World War, in North Africa and North-West Europe, where he was twice wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier in the service of the Royal Tank Regiment.¹

     Jean Ann Dorothy Coates is the daughter of Sir William Frederick Coates, 1st Bt. and Elsie Millicent Gregory.² She married Thomas Roland Lecky Sinclair, son of Captain Sir Kenneth Duncan Lecky Sinclair, on 7 December 1938.¹
     From 7 December 1938, her married name became Sinclair. She lived in 2003 at 610 Bridlespur Lane, Earlysville, Virginia, U.S.A..¹

     Francis David Nicholas Sinclair was born on 26 August 1940.¹ He is the son of Thomas Roland Lecky Sinclair and Jean Ann Dorothy Coates.² He married, firstly, Peggy Elizabeth Biller in 1963.¹ He and Peggy Elizabeth Biller were divorced in 1966.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Virginia Otto in 1984.¹
