     George William Campbell was born on 3 June 1826.1 He was the son of Colin Campbell, 1st of Colgrain and Janet Miller Hamilton.2 He married Florence Hogg, daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir James Weir Hogg, on 8 May 1865.1 He died on 2 December 1896 at age 70.1
     George William Campbell was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1
