     Katherine McBurnie was born circa 1736 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1 She married Colonel James Grierson, son of Thomas Grierson of Larbreck and Elizabeth Ewart, on 14 May 1767 at St. Paul's Parish, Augusta, Georgia, U.S.A..1 She died on 20 August 1778.1
     From 14 May 1767, her married name became Grierson.1

     Thomas Grierson was born on 14 November 1770 at Augusta, Georgia, U.S.A..1 He was the son of Colonel James Grierson and Katherine McBurnie.1 He married Louisa Fraser on 7 January 1792 at New Abbey, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.1 He died on 14 May 1798 at age 27 at New Abbey, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.1 He was buried at St. Michael's Cemetery, Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1 His will was probated on 12 November 1798.1
     Thomas Grierson was with the Honourable East India Company Service.1
