     John Francis Goodeve Erskine, 27th Earl of Mar was born on 29 March 1836. He was the son of William James Goodeve and Frances Jemima Erskine. He married Alice Mary Sinclair Hamilton, daughter of John Hamilton, on 12 September 1866. He died on 17 June 1930 at age 94.
     John Francis Goodeve Erskine, 27th Earl of Mar gained the title of 27th Earl of Mar.
