     Mary Alice Archdale was the daughter of Colonel Mervyn Henry Archdale and Mary de Bathe.1 She married Ralph William Ernest Beckett, 3rd Baron Grimthorpe, son of Ernest William Beckett, 2nd Baron Grimthorpe and Lucy Lee, on 3 September 1914.1 She and Ralph William Ernest Beckett, 3rd Baron Grimthorpe were divorced in 1945.3 She died on 28 April 1962, following a road accident.3
      From 3 September 1914, her married name became Beckett.1 As a result of her marriage, Mary Alice Archdale was styled as Baroness Grimthorpe on 9 May 1917.
