Major John Grey Archdale Porter was born on 9 June 1886.1 He was the son of John Porter Porter and Josephine Henrietta Lloyd.1 He married Enid Mary Assheton-Smith, daughter of George William Assheton-Smith, on 6 December 1915 in a childless marriage.1 He died on 21 November 1917 at age 31, of wounds received in action, he died before his father.1
