     Sir Lawrence Charles Edward Downing Dowdall was the son of Reverand Launcelot Dowdall and Maria Downing.1 He married Elizabeth Frances Edie, daughter of Alexander Clotworthy Downing Leckie Edie and Diana Maria Battley, on 1 August 1914 in a childless marriage.1 He died on 23 February 1936.1
     Sir Lawrence Charles Edward Downing Dowdall was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.).1 He was the Head of the Administrative Department, Chief Secretary of Ireland's Office.1
