     Captain Gilbert Evelyn Barcroft fought in the First World War, with the Ulster Division. He was wounded.^1,2 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Irish Fusiliers.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff in 1932.¹ He lived at Ennismore House, Milltown, County Armagh, Ireland.¹

     Kathleen Johnson was the daughter of Frederick George Johnson.¹ She married Captain Gilbert Evelyn Barcroft, son of Frederick Barcroft and Catherine Elizabeth Nicholson, on 4 February 1920 in a childless marriage.¹ She died on 2 October 1971.¹
     From 4 February 1920, her married name became Barcroft.¹
