Captain John Woolsey was born on 6 January 1772.1 He was the son of Reverend William Woolsey and Mary Anne Bellingham.1 He married Janet Jameson, daughter of John Jameson, on 30 March 1812.1 He died on 1 August 1835 at age 63.1
Captain John Woolsey gained the rank of Captain between 1802 and 1808 in the service of the 82nd Regiment.1 He gained the rank of 1st Leiutenant in 1808 in the service of the Castlebellingham Infantry (a Yeoman corps).1 He held the office of High Sheriff in 1826.1 He lived at Priorland House, Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland.1
