     Richard Townsend was the son of Thomas Townsend.1 He married Mary Catherine Newman, daughter of Adam Newman.1 He died before 26 April 1848, when his widow remarried.1
     Richard Townsend graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).1
