     Dr. Richard Townsend was born on 12 January 1736/37.2 He was the son of Captain Philip Townsend and Elizabeth Hungerford.2 He married, secondly, Margaret Townsend, daughter of Horatio Townsend and Anne Richards.1 He married, thirdly, Elizabeth Norris.1 He married, firstly, Eleanor Sealy, daughter of John Sealy, in 1762.2 He died in 1817.2
     Dr. Richard Townsend graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).2 He lived at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.2 He also had two sons by his first wife, who both died in infancy.2
