     Colonel Algernon George Arnold Durand was born on 31 March 1854.3 He is the son of Maj.-Gen. Sir Henry Marion Durand and Annie McCaskill.2 He married Elizabeth Marjorie Bruce, daughter of Hon. Thomas Charles Bruce and Sarah Caroline Thornhill, on 17 July 1895.1 He died on 8 October 1923 at age 69.3
