Mary Fair was the daughter of Gamaliel Fair.2 She married, secondly, John Ward, 2nd Viscount Dudley and Ward of Dudley, son of John Ward, 1st Viscount Dudley and Ward of Dudley and Anna Maria Bourchier, on 15 July 1788.1 She married, thirdly, Benjamin Jennings on 14 August 1790.1 She married, fourthly, Captain John Smith on 9 December 1791.1 She died circa May 1810.1 She was buried on 24 May 1810.1

John William Ward, 1st and last Earl of Dudley of Dudley Castle was born on 9 August 1781.1 He was the son of William Ward, 3rd Viscount Dudley and Ward of Dudley and Julia Bosville.1 He died on 6 March 1833 at age 51, unmarried.1

Worcester [G.B., 1763] on 25 April 1823.1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1827.1 He held the office of Foreign Secretary between 1827 and 1828.1 He was created 1st Earl of Dudley of Dudley Castle [U.K.] on 5 October 1827.1 He was created 1st Viscount Ednam, of Ednam, co. Robburgh [U.K.] on 5 October 1827.1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.).1
On his death, the titles of Earl of Dudley, Viscount Ednam and Ward became extinct, while the Barony of Ward devolved on his second cousin.1

Sir Washington Shirley, 8th Earl Ferrers was born on 13 November 1760.1 He was the son of Sir Robert Shirley, 6th Earl Ferrers and Catherine Cotton.2 He married, firstly, Frances Ward, daughter of Reverend William Ward and Elizabeth Hawkes, on 24 July 1781.3 He married, secondly, Sarah Davy, daughter of William Davy, on 29 September 1829.1 He died on 2 October 1842 at age 81.1
Sir Washington Shirley, 8th Earl Ferrers succeeded to the title of 14th Baronet Shirley, of Staunton Harold [E., 1611] on 2 May 1827.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Viscount Tamworth, of co. Stafford [G.B., 1711] on 2 May 1827.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Earl Ferrers [G.B., 1711] on 2 May 1827.1 He also had two daughters by his first wife.1
