     Catherine Cotton was the daughter of Rowland Cotton.2 She married Robert Shirley, 6th Earl Ferrers, son of Hon. Laurence Shirley and Anne Clarges, on 26 December 1754.1 She died on 16 March 1786.1
     From 26 December 1754, her married name became Shirley. After her marriage, Catherine Cotton was styled as Countess Ferrers on 11 October 1778.

Robert Shirley, 7th Earl Ferrers1

     Robert Shirley, 7th Earl Ferrers was born on 21 September 1756.1 He was the son of Robert Shirley, 6th Earl Ferrers and Catherine Cotton.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Prentise, daughter of John Prentise, on 13 March 1778.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Mundy, daughter of Wrightson Mundy, on 28 September 1799.1 He died on 2 May 1827 at age 70, without surviving legitimate issue.1
     He succeeded as the 13th Baronet Shirley, of Staunton Harold [E., 1611] on 17 April 1787.3 He succeeded as the 7th Earl Ferrers [G.B., 1711] on 17 April 1787.1 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount Tamworth, of co. Stafford [G.B., 1711] on 17 April 1787. He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)1

     Elizabeth Prentise was the daughter of John Prentise.2 She married Robert Shirley, 7th Earl Ferrers, son of Robert Shirley, 6th Earl Ferrers and Catherine Cotton, on 13 March 1778.1 She died on 14 September 1799.1 She was buried on 22 September 1799 at White Roding, Essex, England.
     From 13 March 1778, her married name became Shirley. After her marriage, Elizabeth Prentise was styled as Countess Ferrers on 17 April 1787.

Robert Sewallis Shirley, Viscount Tamworth1

     Robert Sewallis Shirley, Viscount Tamworth was born on 9 November 1778.1 He was the son of Robert Shirley, 7th Earl Ferrers and Elizabeth Prentise.2 He married Hon. Sophia Caroline Curzon, daughter of Nathaniel Curzon, 2nd Baron Scarsdale and Hon. Sophia Susanna Noel, on 5 August 1800.1 He died on 6 June 1824 at age 45, without issue.1
     He was styled as Viscount Tamworth between 1787 and 1824.1

Eleanor Shirley1

     Eleanor Shirley was born illegitimately.1 She is the daughter of Robert Shirley, 7th Earl Ferrers.1 She married Hylton Jolliffe, son of William Jolliffe and Eleanor Hylton, on 7 September 1804.2 She died on 13 January 1809.2
     From 7 September 1804, her married name became Jolliffe.

Sophia Susanna Noel.2 She married Robert Sewallis Shirley, Viscount Tamworth, son of Robert Shirley, 7th Earl Ferrers and Elizabeth Prentise, on 5 August 1800.1 She died on 3 February 1849, without issue.1
     From 5 August 1800, her married name became Shirley.
