Matthew Blood-Smyth1

     Matthew Blood-Smyth was the son of John Blood and Elizabeth FitzGerald.1 He married Dorothea Julia Ingram, daughter of Reverend Jacques Ingram and Mary Smyth, on 6 February 1784.2
     He was born with the name of Matthew Blood.1 He gained the rank of Ensign in 1778 in the 57th Foot.1,2 He fought in the Battle of Yorktown, during which he was captured.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1782 in the 57th Foot, which he sold to an Ensign of the 22nd Foot in 1784.2 On 15 December 1808 his name was legally changed to Matthew Blood-Smyth when he assumed the additional surname and arms of Smyth by Royal Licence.1 He lived at Castle Fergus, County Clare, IrelandG.1

     Dorothea Julia Ingram was the daughter of Reverend Jacques Ingram and Mary Smyth.1 She married Matthew Blood-Smyth, son of John Blood and Elizabeth FitzGerald, on 6 February 1784.1
     From 6 February 1784, her married name became Blood-Smyth.1

     Captain John Blood-Smyth was born in 1785.1 He was the son of Matthew Blood-Smyth and Dorothea Julia Ingram.1 He died on 19 December 1815, unmarried.1
     He gained the rank of Ensign in the 15th Foot.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 8th West Indies Regiment.1

     Anne Massy was the daughter of John Massy.1 She married, firstly, George Studdert, son of George Studdert and Hannah Blood, in September 1810.1 She married, secondly, William Blood-Smyth, son of Matthew Blood-Smyth and Dorothea Julia Ingram, on 10 June 1820.1
     From September 1810, her married name became Studdert.1 From 10 June 1820, her married name became Blood-Smyth.1
