     Lt.-Cmdr. Patrick Morice Fitzgerald Blood was born on 12 November 1929.1 He is the son of Commander Morice Blood and Doris Mary Jenner Lavers.1 He married Jennifer Anne Cooke, daughter of Lionel Esmond Cooke, on 15 October 1955.1
     Lt.-Cmdr. Patrick Morice Fitzgerald Blood was educated at Pangbourne Nautical College, Pangbourne, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England.1 He was registered as a Civil Engineer.1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (M.I.Mech.E.).1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Marine Engineers (M.I.Mar.E.).1 He retired from the military in 1965, with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, late of the Royal Navy.1 He was employed by Alcan Industries, Ltd. in 1965.1 He was employed by Alcan New Zealand, Ltd from 1967.1 He was registered as a Member, New Zealand Institution of Engineers.1 As of 1976, Lt.-Cmdr.
