     Ralph Devereux Shirley was born on 19 August 1889.1 He was the son of Reverend William Shirley and Alice Louisa Pryor.2 He married Marie Louise Josephine Jouve, daughter of unknown Jouve, in 1926.1
     Ralph Devereux Shirley gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant in the service of the Rifle Brigade.1 He was an architect.1
