     Jean Doig was born on 11 May 1835 at Easter Frew, Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland.1,2 She was the daughter of John Doig and Janet McFarlane.1 She was christened on 3 June 1835 at Kilmadock, Stirlingshire, Scotland.2 She married James Shepherd on 14 November 1852 at Kincardine, Stirlingshire, Scotland.2 She died on 6 June 1905 at age 70 at Swannanoa, Canterbury, New Zealand.2
     From 14 November 1852, her married name became (?) Shepherd.2 She lived at Craighead Farm, Kippen Road at Kilmadock, Stirlingshire, Scotland, in 1861.2 Jean and James Shepherd immigrated to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New Zealand, arriving on April 1863.2
