     Peter Doig was born on 4 August 1838 at Thornhill, Stirlingshire, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of John Doig and Janet McFarlane.2 He was christened on 22 October 1838 at Kilmadock, Stirlingshire, ScotlandG.3 He married Margaret Dick on 5 April 1861.1 He died on 21 July 1912 at age 73 at Kenmuir Farm, Chertsey, Canterbury, New ZealandG.1,4 He was buried at Rakaia Cemetery, Rakaia, Canterbury, New ZealandG, plot 30.4 His estate was probated on 29 July 1912 at Chertsey, Canterbury, New ZealandG.5
     He was a ploughman in April 1861 at Craighead Farm, Kippen Road, Kilmadock, Stirlingshire, ScotlandG.6 Peter, Margaret and Paul and Margaret Dick immigrated to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New ZealandG, on the ship Chrysolite, arriving on 27 July 1861.2,7 He was a farmer. Peter first purchased 580 acres in 1877, and Wentworth farm near Chertsey. Several years later he bought the adjoining farm, Kenmuir. By 1882 he owned 1180 acres, and eventually owned 3600 acres. in 1877 at Kenmuir Farm, Chertsey, Canterbury, New ZealandG.6

     Margaret Dick was born on 17 July 1842 at Alloa, Clackmannanshire, ScotlandG.1 She married Peter Doig, son of John Doig and Janet McFarlane, on 5 April 1861.1 She died on 24 May 1925 at age 82 at Kenmuir Farm, Chertsey, Canterbury, New ZealandG.1,2 She was buried at Rakaia Cemetery, Rakaia, Canterbury, New ZealandG, plot 30.2 Her estate was probated on 31 March 1925 at Chertsey, Canterbury, New ZealandG.3
     From 5 April 1861, her married name became Doig.1 Peter, Margaret and Paul and Peter Doig immigrated to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New ZealandG, on the ship Chrysolite, arriving on 27 July 1861.4,5
