     General Ian Standish Monteith Hamilton was born on 16 January 1853 at Corfu, Greece.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Monteith Hamilton and Hon. Maria Corinna Vereker.1 He married Jean Miller Muir, daughter of Sir John Muir, in 1887.1 He died on 12 October 1947 at age 94 at London, England.1
     General Ian Standish Monteith Hamilton adopted Harry Hamilton.1 He was educated at Wellington College, Wellington, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of General in the service of the Gordon Highlanders.1 He fought in the Gallipoli Campaign.1
