     Sub-Lt. William Alan Flowerdew Sykes was born on 22 February 1924.1 He was the son of Brigadier John Henry Sykes and Leila Flowerdew Macphee.2 He died on 23 June 1944 at age 20, killed in action.1
     Sub-Lt. William Alan Flowerdew Sykes gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He fought in the Second World War.1
