     Alban James Gilbey was born in 1899.1 He was the son of William Crosbie Gilbey and Margerita Gordon.2 He married Mercy Eleonore Adele Mark, daughter of Ernst Mark, in 1924.1 He died on 5 February 1968, without issue.1
     Alban James Gilbey was educated at Oratory School, South Kensington, London, England.1 He fought in the First World War.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1
