Sir Brian Patrick McMahon, 8th Bt. was born on 9 June 1942.1 He is the son of Sir William Patrick McMahon, 7th Bt. and Ruth Stella Kenyon-Slaney.2 He married Kathleen Joan Hopwood, daughter of William Hopwood, in 1981.1 He and Kathleen Joan Hopwood were divorced in 1991.1
He was educated at Wellington College, Wellington, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Wednesbury Technical College, Wednesbury, Warwickshire, England, in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Engineering Metallurgy.1 He was registered as a Associate, Institution of Metallurgists (A.I.M.) in 1967.1 He was an engineer.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Baronet McMahon [U.K., 1817] on 5 January 1977.3 He lived in 2003 at Oak Ridge, School Road, Thorney Hill, Bransgore, Dorset, England.1
