     Robin Julius Leigh Rowley was born on 11 April 1892.1 He was the son of Julius Leigh Rowley and Florence Welch.2 He married Edith May Mumford, daughter of Sidney Hugo Mumford, on 3 April 1920.1 He died in 1974.1
     Robin Julius Leigh Rowley was educated at Palmers College.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.1 He gained the rank of officer in the service of the Life Guards.1
