     Captain William Russell De la Poer Beresford was born on 31 October 1893. He was the son of Arthur George de la Poer Beresford and Ellen Stuart Mayo. He married Marie Isobel Ward, daughter of Samuel Cowper Ward, in 1923. He died on 13 September 1938 at age 44.
