     Lt.-Col. Desmond Gerald Crofton was born on 10 July 1904.1 He was the son of Alfred Gerald Crofton and Frances Nora Wilson.2 He married, firstly, Ida Hardcastle, daughter of Frank Hardcastle, on 22 January 1925.1 He married, secondly, Dorothea Herriet Wilson, daughter of Arthur George Wilson, in 1971.1 He died in 1977.1
     Lt.-Col. Desmond Gerald Crofton was Lieutenant Colonel of the 1st Battalion, Canadian Scottish Regiment.1 He was decorated with the award of Efficiency Decoration (E.D.).1 He fought in the Second World War between 1944 and 1945, in France and North-West Europe, where he was wounded, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He was decorated with the award of Bronze Lion of Netherlands.1

     Ida Hardcastle was the daughter of Frank Hardcastle.1 She married, firstly, Major Frank Harvey Corbett before 1925.1 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Desmond Gerald Crofton, son of Alfred Gerald Crofton and Frances Nora Wilson, on 22 January 1925.1 She died in 1970.1
     From before 1925, her married name became Corbett.1 From 22 January 1925, her married name became Crofton.

     John Edward Crofton was born on 12 December 1925.1 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Desmond Gerald Crofton and Ida Hardcastle.2 He married Marie White on 9 June 1950.1
     John Edward Crofton gained the rank of Squadron Leader in the service of the Royal Ccanadian Air Force.1 He was decorated with the award of Canadian Decoration (C.D.).1
