     Alexander William Henry James Montgomery-Cuninghame was born on 28 October 1905.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Andrew Alexander Montgomery-Cuninghame of Corsehill, 10th Bt. and Alice Frances Denison Des Voeux.2 He married Barbara Susanne Gray-Cheape, daughter of Colonel Hugh Annesley Gray-Cheape and Carsina Gordon Gray, on 23 October 1934.1 He died in July 1944 at age 38, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Scots Fusiliers.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1
