Charles Augustus Bennet, 5th Earl of Tankerville

     Charles Augustus Bennet, 5th Earl of Tankerville was born on 28 April 1776.1 He was the son of Charles Bennet, 4th Earl of Tankerville and Emma Colebrooke.2 He married Armandine Sophie Leonie Corisande de Gramont, daughter of Antoine, Duc de Gramont, on 28 July 1806.1 He died on 25 June 1859 at age 83.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Steyning between 1803 and 1806.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1806.1 He was Treasurer of the Household between 1806 and 1807.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Knaresborough between 1806 and 1818.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Berwick between 1820 and 1822.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Ossulston, of Ossulston, co. Middlesex [E., 1682] on 10 December 1822.1 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Tankerville [G.B., 1714] on 10 December 1822.1

Armandine Sophie Leonie Corisande de Gramont1

     Armandine Sophie Leonie Corisande de Gramont was the daughter of Antoine, Duc de Gramont.1 She married Charles Augustus Bennet, 5th Earl of Tankerville, son of Charles Bennet, 4th Earl of Tankerville and Emma Colebrooke, on 28 July 1806.1 She died on 23 January 1865.1
     Her married name became Bennet. After her marriage, Armandine Sophie Leonie Corisande de Gramont was styled as Countess of Tankerville on 10 December 1822.

     Hon. Henry Grey Bennet was born on 2 December 1777.1 He was the son of Charles Bennet, 4th Earl of Tankerville and Emma Colebrooke.1 He married Gertrude Frances Russell, daughter of Lord William Russell and Lady Charlotte Anne Villiers, on 15 May 1816.1 He died on 29 May 1836 at age 58.1
     He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2

     Rt. Hon. Fitzstephen Patrick French was born on 7 December 1801.2 He was the son of Arthur French and Margaret Costello.2 He married Charlotte Emma Georgina Bennet, daughter of Hon. Henry Grey Bennet and Gertrude Frances Russell, on 24 November 1839.2 He died on 4 June 1873 at age 71.2
     His name was legally changed to Fitzstephen French.2 He was given the name of Patrick French at birth.2 He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Roscommon between 1832 and 1873.2 He was Colonel of the County Roscommon Militia between 1854 and 1873.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Roscommon.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Sligo.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)      Captain Hon. John Astley Bennet was born on 21 December 1778.1 He was the son of Charles Bennet, 4th Earl of Tankerville and Emma Colebrooke.1 He married Julia Conyers, daughter of John Conyers, on 27 August 1811.1 He died on 14 September 1812 at age 33.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1
