Lord Douglas Halyburton was born on 10 October 1777.1 He was the son of Charles Gordon, 4th Earl of Aboyne and Lady Margaret Stewart.1 He married Louisa Leslie, daughter of Sir Edward Leslie, Bt., on 16 July 1807.1 He died on 25 December 1841 at age 64.1
Lord Douglas Halyburton was baptised with the name of Douglas Gordon.1 On 1784 his name was legally changed to Douglas Halyburton on inheriting the Forfarshire estate of his cousin, Hamilton Douglas Halyburton of Pitcur.1 On 24 June 1836 he was granted the rank of a marquess's younger son.1

Louisa Leslie was the daughter of Sir Edward Leslie, Bt.1 She married Lord Douglas Halyburton, son of Charles Gordon, 4th Earl of Aboyne and Lady Margaret Stewart, on 16 July 1807.1 She died on 2 October 1851.1
