     Mary Elizabeth Gibbs was born on 7 January 1932.1 She is the daughter of Very Reverend Michael McCausland Gibbs and Edith Marjorie Ward.1 She married Maurice Fraser Carver, son of Frank Carver and Annie Jane Harriet Creswell, on 29 October 1965.1
     Mary Elizabeth Gibbs was educated at University of Cape Town, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.1 She graduated from Cape Town University in 1955 with the degree of Bachelor of Social Sciences (B.Soc.Sc.).1 From 29 October 1965, her married name became Carver.1
