     Sir James Hamlyn, 1st Bt. was born in October 1735.1 He was the son of Richard Hamlyn.1 He married Arabella Williams, daughter of Thomas Williams and Anne Singleton, on 11 June 1762.1 He died on 28 May 1811 at age 75.1
     Sir James Hamlyn, 1st Bt. was baptised with the name of James Hammett.1 On 1795 his name was legally changed to James Hamlyn.1 He was created 1st Baronet Hamlyn, of Clovelly Court on 7 July 1795. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Carmarthenshire.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Carmarthenshire.1

     Arabella Williams was born in 1738/39.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Williams and Anne Singleton.1 She married Sir James Hamlyn, 1st Bt., son of Richard Hamlyn, on 11 June 1762.1 She died on 22 March 1797.1
     From 11 June 1762, her married name became Hamlyn.1

     Thomas Williams was the son of Sir Rice Williams and Mary Vaughan.1 He married, secondly, Anne Singleton, daughter of William Singleton.1 He married, firstly, Arabella Vaughan, daughter of John Vaughan.1 He died in October 1762.1
     Thomas Williams was admitted to Gray's Inn entitled to practice as a barrister-at-law.1
