Maurice Anthony Wingfield was born on 21 June 1883.2 He was the son of Mervyn Wingfield, 7th Viscount Powerscourt and Lady Julia Coke.2 He married Sybil Frances Leyland, daughter of Frederick Dawson Leyland and Sybil Lake Beadle, on 10 October 1906.2 He died on 14 April 1956 at age 72.2
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.2 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.2 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.2 He was admitted to Gentlemen-at-Arms in 1928.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He was Director of Quartering, War Office between 1939 and 1941.2 He fought in the Major-General, Rifle Brigade.2 He was president of the Corps of Insurance Brokers between 1952 and 1955.2 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1953.2 He lived at Ashby Pastures, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, EnglandG.1
