Commander William Minchin1

     Commander William Minchin was born on 29 June 1772.1 He was the son of Richard Minchin and Elizabeth Lipscomb.2 He died on 7 September 1845 at age 73.1
     He gained the rank of Able Seaman on 15 January 1790 in the Royal Navy, on board the Advice.1 He was on the Home and Mediterranean stations, as Master's Mate in the sloop Scout and Orestes between March 1791 and April 1794.1 He was in the English Channel and at the Cape of Good Hope between December 1796 and February 1799.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 27 December 1796, in the sloop Star.1 He was on the Java, Baltic and the West India Stations between July 1800 and October 1803.1 He fought in the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801.1 He was on the Home and Newfoundland stations between 1804 and 1807.1 He was in the Warrior 74, sloop Tisiphone, Diana 38, Albion74 and Queen 74 between 1815 and 1816.1 He was Commander of the the gun-brig Pelter between 1819 and 1821.1

     Richard Augustus Bethell, 2nd Baron Westbury was born on 11 March 1830.1 He was the son of Richard Bethell, 1st Baron Westbury and Ellinor Mary Abraham.1 He married Mary Florence Luttrell, daughter of Reverend Alexander Fownes Luttrell, on 5 July 1851.1 He died on 28 March 1875 at age 45.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Westbury, of Westbury, co. Wiltshire [U.K., 1961] on 20 July 1873.1
