Colonel Sir John Montagu Burgoyne, 9th Bt. was born on 17 October 1796 at Sutton Park, Bedfordshire, England.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Sir Montagu Roger Burgoyne, 8th Bt. and Catherine Burton.1 He married Mary Henrietta Gore-Langton, daughter of Colonel William Gore-Langton and Bridget Langton, on 20 December 1831.1 He died on 17 March 1858 at age 61.1
Colonel Sir John Montagu Burgoyne, 9th Bt. succeeded to the title of 9th Baronet Burgoyne, of Sutton, co. Bedford [E., 1641] on 11 November 1817.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 1820, but did not act.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1846 in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 1852.1
