Alan John Francis Mackay was born on 6 September 1919.¹ He was the son of Kenneth Mackay, 2nd Earl of Inchcape and Joan Moriarty.¹ He married, firstly, Janet Mary Wallis, daughter of Frederick Wallis, on 3 January 1945.¹ He and Janet Mary Wallis were divorced in 1946.¹ He married, secondly, Sonia Cecilia Helen Tylden, daughter of Captain James Richard Tylden, on 30 June 1948.¹ He and Sonia Cecilia Helen Tylden were divorced in 1953.¹ He married, thirdly, Countess Lucie Catinka Christiane Julie Haugwitz-Hardenberg-Reventlow, daughter of Count Curt Ludwig Haugwitz-Hardenberg-Reventlow, on 7 July 1955.² He died on 1 February 1999 at age 79.¹
