     Daniel de Hoghton was born on 13 August 1853.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Bold-Hoghton, 8th Bt. and Harriet Sarah Smith.2 He married Mary Jones, daughter of Henry Jones, in 1888.1 He died on 5 January 1929 at age 75.1
     Daniel de Hoghton was baptised with the name of Daniel Bold-Hoghton.3 On 4 January 1875 his name was legally changed to Daniel de Hoghton by Royal Licence.3 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.1 He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.).1
