     Sir John Sealy Edward Townsend was born on 7 June 1868.1 He was the son of Edward Townsend and Judith Townsend.2 He married Mary Georgiana Lambert, daughter of Peter FitzWalter Lambert and Julia Mary Hewetson, on 5 June 1911.1 He died on 16 February 1957 at age 88.1
     He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was a Demonstrator at Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1903.1 He was Wykeham Professor of Physies at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Paris, FranceG.1 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1941.1

Peter FitzWalter Lambert1

     Peter FitzWalter Lambert was born on 8 December 1848.2 He was the son of Walter Peter Lambert and Elizabeth McO'Boy.2 He married Julia Mary Hewetson, daughter of Colonel Henry Alexander Hewetson, on 7 July 1887.2 He died on 24 February 1894 at age 45.2
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Galway.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Galway in 1891.2 He lived at Castle Ellen, County Galway, IrelandG.2
