Edward Richard Townsend was born on 31 July 1800.1 He was the son of Samuel Philip Townsend and Helena Robinson.2 He married Elizabeth Jane Bath, daughter of Neville Bath, in 1827.1 He died on 6 January 1878 at age 77,.1
