     Major John Andrew Comyn was born on 28 August 1915.¹ He is the son of Colonel Lewis James Comyn and Esther Mary Egan.² He married, firstly, Diana Mary Neal, daughter of Archibald Charles Neal, on 30 April 1948.¹ He and Diana Mary Neal were divorced in 1961.¹ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Evelyn Grant, daughter of Major Alexander Grant, on 12 June 1963.¹
     Major John Andrew Comyn was educated at Wellington College, Wellington, Berkshire, England.¹ He fought in the Second World War, in North Africa, where he became a POW.¹ He retired from the military in 1950, with the rank of Major, late of the King's Royal Irish Hussars.¹ He was Director of Saintrutt & Parker (Farms) Ltd.¹ He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1968.¹ He was invested as a Fellow, Chartered Insitutute of Secretaries (F.C.I.S.).¹ He lived in 1976 at Terling, Chelmsford, Essex, England.¹
