Sir Jeffrey Browning was born on 31 August 1862.1 He was the son of Alfred French Browning and Emmeline Mary French.2 He married Lydia Gellender, daughter of George Thomas Gellender, on 21 January 1883.1 He died on 24 February 1933 at age 70,.1
Sir Jeffrey Browning was with HM Customs in 1880.1 He was Assistant Secretary at Customs House at London, England.1 He was Chief Inspector of Customs and Excise.1 He was decorated with the award of Imperial Service Order (I.S.O.) in 1911.1 He gained the rank of Staff Paymaster in the service of the Royal Navy Reserve.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1918.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1918.1 He was Receiver of Wrecks and Subcommissions of Pilotage for Great Yarmouth District.1 He was invested as a Knight Bachelor in 1921.1 He lived at Hemingford Lodge, London Road, Cheam, Surrey, England.1
