     Lt.-Col. Algernon St. Leger Burrowes was born on 5 December 1847.1 He was the son of Reverend Thomas Robert Fiennes Forth Burrowes and Amelia Wintle.2 He married Fanny Henrietta Hoare, daughter of W. Barry Hoare, on 22 June 1875.1 He died on 18 December 1925 at age 78,.1
     Lt.-Col. Algernon St. Leger Burrowes fought in the Egyptian Campaign in 1882, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.1 He fought in the Sudan Campaign between 1884 and 1885, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Royal Marines Light Infantry.1 He was Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1911.1 He was Recruiting Staff Officer between 1916 and 1918.1 He lived at Moorside, Budleigh Salterton, Devon, England.1

     Fanny Henrietta Hoare was the daughter of W. Barry Hoare.2 She married Lt.-Col. Algernon St. Leger Burrowes, son of Reverend Thomas Robert Fiennes Forth Burrowes and Amelia Wintle, on 22 June 1875.1 She died on 13 December 1925.1
     From 22 June 1875, her married name became Burrowes.1

     Elsa Burrowes was born on 9 December 1877.1 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Algernon St. Leger Burrowes and Fanny Henrietta Hoare.2 She married John Hawkes Cornock, son of John Hawkes Cornock, on 21 February 1906.1 She died in 1935, without issue.1
     From 21 February 1906, her married name became Cornock.1

     In 1879 served in South Africa.1 He fought in the Egyptian Campaign in 1882, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet-Colonel in the service of the Royal Marine Artillery.1
