Joanna Louise Claudia Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone was born on 1 March 1962.1 She is the daughter of Robin Evelyn Leo Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone, 5th Baron Derwent and Sybille Marie Louise de Simard de Pitray.2 She married Timothy Matthews, son of Reverend John Matthews, in 1991.1 She and Timothy Matthews were divorced in 2002.1
     From 1991, her married name became Matthews.
