Charles Christian de Villiers was born on 26 October 1811.1 He was the son of Jacob Nicolas de Villiers and Susanna Bernhardi.2 He married Dorothea Elizabeth Retief, daughter of Johannes Hendrik Retief, on 8 December 1830.1 He died on 8 May 1854 at age 42.1
