     He was senior partner of Devitt and Moore.¹ He was Founder of Devitt and Moore Nautical College, Pangbourne.¹ He was President of the Institute of Shipbrokers.¹ He was chairman of Lloyd's Register Shipping between 1909 and 1920.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Devitt, of Chelsea, in the County of London [U.K.] on 4 July 1916.¹
